Our looms
Woven in Surat on jacquard looms
Jakado weaves its Banarasi Meena sarees in Surat, on jacquard looms.
Jakado is a manufacturer, not a trader: the sarees are machine woven at our own factory in Pipodara. See the factory and process, or read why wholesale buyers choose Jakado.
The Registry’s Banaras Brocades and Sarees journal entry uses the word meenakari (enamelling) for the pattern of Alfi brocade.

FAQ
Questions about Banarasi Meena sarees
Is meenakari on a saree the same as enamel work?
No. Meenakari, also called enamelling, is described in the Registry as decorating a metal surface by fusing mineral substances to it, as in the registered Banaras Gulabi Meenakari Craft. On a Banarasi Meena saree from Jakado the design is woven on a jacquard loom in Surat, not applied as enamel.
What does the Registry say about the Alfi meenakari pattern?
It says that in Alfi brocade only the outline pattern is made with coloured silk. That is the Registry’s description of the art form, not a specification of Jakado’s range; ask on WhatsApp for the Banarasi Meena designs available now.
